Fishing Around Tybee Island
![]() There’s always great fishing in Georgia, and especially around Tybee Island, no matter what the season! You can sport fish from the Tybee Pier and Back River pier or surf cast from the north and south ends of the island. Or, book a deep-sea or in-shore charter boat. Deep-sea Gulf Stream fish include snapper, grouper, sea bass, triggerfish, shark, king and Spanish mackerel, barracuda, amberjack, dolphin, wahoo, sailfish, tuna and marlin. In-shore, you’ll find an abundance of trout, bass, flounder, sheep’s head, tarpon, whiting and shark. You can also go crabbing from the piers, docks and bridges. There’s very little equipment involved here –- just a pole, a string and a chicken neck! Crabbing is a great family activity and the supplies are bountiful in the shops around Tybee. |
