On March 18th from 5-6 p.m., the second concert in the Third Thursday Concert series was held at Tybee Oaks. Cultural Arts organizer, Patricia Miller Wann, greeted folks as they arrived. Patricia was also taking photographs of the happy crowd. The singer/songwriter, Lauren Lapointe, delighted the audience with her Canadian references and stories.
I was sitting on the deck at Huc-a-Poo’s to enjoy the concert. Surrounding me were many Canadian families spending holidays on Tybee. Following the success of the Olympics, the Canadian visitors were happy with Lauren’s background and choice in music.
The setting under the oaks was a good choice for an intimate early evening of guitar and vocal sounds. Lauren was successful in drawing in the audience with her charm and graceful renditions of her own works. Everyone will be looking forward to the next concert in the series, Lacey Caldwell, a 16-year-old Tybee resident and vocal student at Savannah Arts Academy. She will perform at the South Beach roundabout April 15th from 5-6 p.m.
