Historic Savannah, Georgia

Savannah, Georgia’s first city – and America’s first planned city – was founded in 1733 by British General James Oglethorpe to expand trade in the colonies.

Oglethorpe designed the city with wide thoroughfares and 24 squares, which were used for protection as well as meetings and recreation.

Graced by gorgeous azaleas and live oaks dripping with Spanish moss, 21 of these glorious squares still exist in Savannah, called by nearly all who see it, one of the most beautiful cities in America.

Savannah has long been a treasure and was even offered as a Christmas gift to President Lincoln by General William Tecumseh Sherman after he spared the beautiful city in 1864.

Lovers of history and architecture will be spellbound by this city’s famed Historic District, the largest urban landmark district in the nation, and Savannah’s arts, culture, shopping, dining and festivals.

Daily shuttles to and from Savannah are available. To learn more about things to do in Savannah, go to www.SavannahVisit.com
